Notice of Election - Ashford

UK Parliamentary Election for Ashford Parliamentary Constituency

1. An election will be held to elect one Member of Parliament for Ashford constituency.
2. Forms of nomination for the parliamentary election may be obtained at the Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL from the Acting Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer, Electoral Services Office, Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL on any day after the date of this notice between the hours of 10am and 4pm but no later than 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
4. The deposit of £500 may be made in cash (UK pounds only), by BACS payment or by a UK banker's draft made payable to Returning Officer/Election Number 2 Account. For BACS payment please use Sort Code: 60-01-21, Bank Account No. 47833610 using the candidate’s name as the reference.
5. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 4 July.
6. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications can be made online at; https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
7. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at, Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. Applications can be made online at; https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.
8. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June 2024. Some applications to vote by proxy can be made online at; https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.
9. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June 2024.
10. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at, Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL by 5 pm on Thursday, 4 July 2024.
