Renew Driver Licence
Renewal application forms are sent to existing drivers two months before their current licence expires. These applications must be submitted one month before the current licence expires.
The application form will specify whether a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and medical are required. It will contain the usual requirements for photographs, fee and a copy of your driving licence.
If a DBS disclosure form is required it has to be submitted in person. This can be done either at our offices at International House, Ashford or the Town Hall, Tenterden.
Please note that with effect from 28 February 2025, there are the following changes to licensing requirements:
- All renewal drivers will be required to evidence completion of taxi specific Safeguarding training dated within three years of the application. This can be done through agencies such as The Blue Lamp Trust (£15), Green Penny (£25), or alternative suppliers who meet our minimum specifications. Should you wish to use an alternative supplier please email the licensing team prior to booking to check that the test will be accepted by us;
- All renewal drivers will be required to evidence completion of taxi specific Disability Awareness dated within three years of the application. This can be done through agencies such as The Blue Lamp Trust (£40), Green Penny (£45), or alternative suppliers who meet our minimum specifications. Should you wish to use an alternative supplier please email the licensing team prior to booking to check that the test will be accepted by us;

If a DBS disclosure form is not required, all documents can be submitted by post to International House, Dover Place, Ashford TN23 1HU. Please do not send in your original DVLA licence, a photocopy will be accepted.
