100th Anniversary of the Unveiling of the Great Chart War Memorial
At 11 am on 4 August a small wreath laying ceremony was held at Great Chart War Memorial, commemorating the 100th anniversary of its first unveiling in 1921.

The small ceremonial group was headed by Brigadier Brian Porritt CBE (rtd), a 90 year old veteran of the Korean War. Ian McClintock, chair of Great Chart with Singleton Parish Council laid the community wreath. Local Ward Member, Cllr Jessamy Blandford attended along with David Skinner, nephew of Sgt Albert Skinner, killed in Gaza in 1917.
The group then visited a small temporary exhibition on the events that have taken place at the memorial over the past century, in the Memorial corner of St Mary’s Church, Great Chart.
