Climate Change Guidance for Development Management

Ashford Borough Council has always recognised the need to care about the environment.

The Council are therefore publishing Climate Change Guidance for Development Management to set out what types of infrastructure the Council expect applicants proposing new residential dwellings, dwellings resulting from a material change of use, and certain types of householder development, to deliver to help mitigate the impacts of climate change.

The Council's Climate Change Guidance for Development Management has been formulated to respond to the Council's existing portfolio of Local Plan policies set out in the Ashford Local Plan 2030, and align with its corporate objectives set out in the Climate Change Strategy and Climate Action Plan June 2022 – 2024.

The Council's Climate Change Guidance for Development Management was approved at Full Council in December 2022.

The Climate Change Guidance for Development Management will be treated as a material consideration for the purpose of decision making for planning decisions. The Guidance will be applied from 6 March 2023.
