What is the Ashford Design Code?

A design code sets out clear design parameters to help the council and communities decide what good quality design looks in the borough.

Design codes can provide specific detailed parameters for the development of a site or for a larger area, such as neighbourhoods or borough-wide.

In early 2024, Ashford Borough Council along with other East Kent Councils jointly received £250,00 from the Government's Planning Skills Delivery Fund.  The money will go towards producing a design code for the borough to bolster urban design and placemaking to help shape future development in the borough.
