Statement from Kent County Council

A safety scheme to resurface the Ashford Waste Transfer Site will start this month.
Replacement of the concrete floor is needed because over the years many thousands of movements by heavy vehicles have worn the existing concrete surface away.
The site will close on Tuesday, September 1 and reopen on Tuesday, September 22.
KCC is carrying a full concrete slab replacement under its existing highway resurfacing contract with Eurovia using their specialist concreting sub-contractor LMS. The project involves removing and replacing 2,200m2 of concrete slabs.
Kerbside collections by Ashford Borough Council will not be affected by the closure as the waste will be diverted to another site but the Ashford Household Waste Recycling Centre will need to close during the works.
KCC has a network of 18 HWRCs across Kent providing facilities for the recycling and disposal of more than 30 types of waste.
Ashford residents can book a slot at any of the other HWRCs. You can find your nearest household waste recycling centre online.
