Community Land Trusts (CLTs)
Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are community groups that draw membership from the local community in which they are set up. The groups are controlled by their members. They seek to provide housing in perpetuity for the community (a mix of rented and shared ownership homes is normal) and the CLT will set a rent that makes it genuinely affordable for those who are placed in the homes. Any profits are ploughed back for future investment.
Ashford Borough Council is an associate member of the National CLT Network.
