Entry / Exit System - Be prepared

The Entry/Exit system (EES) is a new digital border system being introduced by the EU that will change requirements for British nationals and other non-EU citizens travelling to EU countries. When travelling with a UK passport, you will be required to register your biometric details, such as fingerprints or a photo, when you arrive. EES registration will replace the current system of manually stamping passports when visitors arrive in the EU.

To understand more on these new laws and requirements, please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system for more details.

On introduction, this has the potential to cause traffic delays on our local road networks and entry roads to the ports, such as the M20.  It is therefore important to be prepared for long journeys and potential delays. For advice on how to prepare for this and where to find up to date traffic information, please see https://www.kentprepared.org.uk/kent-travel-advice

The original launch time of November 2024 has been postponed and an update on new implementation date will be provided once announced.
