Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship Programme

Our apprentices have the opportunity to gain job-specific skills whilst working alongside experienced staff. They are also supported in gaining  nationally recognised qualifications.  Many of our apprentices go on to secure permanent jobs and continue their careers with us.

Pay structure for apprentices

We recognise all of our employees as our most important asset. We go beyond the Government’s National Apprentice Wage  and we pay our apprentices the National Minimum/Living Wage for their age, plus 15 pence per hour.

Working pattern for apprentices - hours of work

The apprenticeship scheme runs on a 35 hour week and working patterns vary depending on the department you are working in.

Our apprenticeships take one to four years to complete, depending on their level.

Time allowed off for study

Training is predominantly on-the-job so this will take place on-site. Apprentices will be provided with one day of study time per week in order to carry out assignments and other college work. However, where the training requires day release at college then you will need to attend college once a week.

Support

We understand that it can be daunting at first when you start off as an apprentice. As a result, you will have support from your manager, qualification provider and our HR team to help and guide you throughout your journey.

Available Apprenticeships

Currently we have apprenticeships in Customer Services, Fraud Investigations, Housing, Electrical Services and Revenues and Benefits.

Search current vacancies for apprenticeship positions to see if we currently have any vacancies. If we are currently not advertising then why not download our guide to setting up a job alert [pdf] 1MB and this way you will not miss out.
