Ashford Town Centre Business Grants

The second round of grant funding is now closed.

The Ashford Town Centre Business Grant provides support to landlords or tenants to make improvements to their business premises and attract investment into Ashford Town Centre. There are two grant schemes; the Shop Improvement Grant and the Empty Premises Grant. Both provide up to 60% of the cost of works.

The Shop Improvement Grant could provide up to £3,000 for work that needs to be carried out such as repairs, renovations, energy efficiency improvements or fit-outs to occupied units.

The Empty Premises Grant could provide up to £10,000 for bringing an empty town centre unit back into use.

This grant scheme is fully funded by S106 contributions aimed at supporting the vitality and viability of Ashford Town Centre.

The deadline for this round of applications was 23:59 on Friday 31 May 2024. Depending on the final number of applications received, the council may consider further rounds after this date.

Please read the full policy attached at the bottom of this page and take a look at each grant’s page for further information.

Note: Works allowed under these grant schemes would likely require Planning Permission (such as Listed Building Consent, Advertising Consent or similar). Ashford Town Centre is largely within a Conservation Area so applicants would need to consider the design and impact of their project. Please click on the relevant guidance below to see what applicants need to consider and how to contact the Planning department about projects or how to submit a planning application.
