Community Toilet Scheme


Yellow Community Toilet Scheme window stickerAshford Borough Council is working with local businesses to help improve the provision of safe and hygienic toilet facilities in the town centre. Facilities in the scheme have a yellow sticker displayed in their window which advises the facilities available.

If you experience a problem with any of the facilities please report it to us.

Just Can't Wait? You can order a special card from the Bladder & Bowel Community free of charge if you have a condition which requires frequent use of the toilet. The card is widely recognised, and is a discrete and clear way to access toilets whilst out and about without any embarrassment.

Public toilets

There are also public toilets at Victoria Park and the opening times are:

  • 8am - 6pm (1 May - 30 September)
  • 8am - 4pm (1 October - 30 April)

The Community Toilet Scheme aims to provide safe, hygienic and accessible toilet facilities in Ashford town centre by asking local businesses to open up their toilet facilities to members of the public.

Where can I go in the town centre to use free toilet facilities?+

Businesses that have signed up to the scheme will display a window sticker. The sticker will indicate they are participating in the scheme and detail the level of services available. The map above shows businesses currently in the scheme.

I own a local business. How can I get on board?+

Businesses interested in participating in the scheme or would like any further information, should get in touch via the LoveAshford website with your business name, address, contact details and details of the which facilities you can provide.

Do I have to pay to use the facilities or do I have to make a purchase?+

No, members of the public can use the facilities free of charge. There is no obligation to purchase anything.

Where can I find special facilities like wheelchair access and baby changing?+

There are several places in the town centre which provide baby changing and disabled facilities. Simply check the map above to find out where.

How do Ashford Borough Council ensure the standard of the toilets meet the requirements of the scheme?+

Businesses will be inspected periodically by council staff to ensure the upkeep of the facilities.
