Eat Well Spend Less and Wellbeing Roadshow
Residents in the borough are able to get additional Cost of Living and wellbeing support through the Eat Well Spend Less and Wellbeing roadshows (EWSLW) which are organised by Ashford Borough Council.
Funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and completely free, they provide residents with resources, support and opportunities to thrive in all aspects of living.
The events bring together a range of partner organisations including frontline Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust staff and Ashford Borough Council officers, outreach organisations and charities, in one easy-to-access place.
There are a wide variety of services on offer and some of these include:
- Free NHS health checks
- NHS immunisation health and prevention advice (NHS COVID-19 and flu vaccines during autumn/winter), also NHS oral health advice
- Fare Share Kent Family Food Bank food items including fresh fruit and vegetables
- Financial support, help and advice
- Safeguarding, energy, housing and benefit advice from Ashford Borough Council
- Kent County Council Family Hubs support for children, young people and their families
- Ashford Volunteer Centre, Citizens Advice and Ashford Mediation Service
- Mental health support
- Dementia support services
- Hi Kent support for people living with hearing loss
Anyone who attends will be able to benefit from guidance on shopping, preparation and cooking healthy, nutritious meals. There will also be information on where and how to access local food banks along with community venues who offer free, pay as you feel or very reasonably priced meals in a social setting.
Residents will also be given recipe bags with all ingredients to take home to make a recipe along with instructions.
Since 2023, Eat Well Spend Less and Wellbeing Roadshows have helped hundreds of residents with wellbeing support and we hope to help many more.
If you’re an organisation that provides a wellbeing service or Cost of Living support to residents in the Ashford borough and are interested in attending a future roadshow, please contact our Public Health Co-Ordinator Emma Everett via email emma.everett@ashford.gov.uk for further information.
